For Immediate Release
La Jolla, CA
April 2007
The I AM Foundation and The World Relief Organization
kick off their 2007 100 Points of Light Campaign to support their
mission to gift millions of books to children in 30 countries,
meeting 30 First Ladies and having their signature book, The
I AM Affirmation Book: Discovering The Value of Who You Are translated
into 30 different languages.
The intention of the 100 Points of Light Campaign's
is to raise over one hundred thousand dollars to fund their 2007
Book Gifting Missions to Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Colombia
and Brazil. Each Point of Light represents a donation of a thousand
dollars. As of April 20th, 2007, the campaign has received 42
commitments from supporters.
On May 16th, 2007, an Honorary Dinner for all Point
of Light Donors is taking place at the Top of The Park Penthouse
at the Park Manor in San Diego. The Consul General of Sri Lanka
will be there as well as Steve Viglione, author of The I AM!
Affirmation Book and Dr. Marilyn Powers, vice president of The
I AM Foundation.
The catering for the dinner is being donated by
Cafe One Three owners Jason Dean and Carlos Legaspy and resident
chef John Kennedy who is cooking up an exquisite 5 course menu
to honor the donors. The reason Jason Dean says he is behind
the project is "I said to myself, WOW! I wish I had
been given The I AM! Affirmation Book when I was a child growing
up in rural Tennessee. How might my life benefited if I had been
given this gift some 30 years ago? How might my life and choices
have been affected?"
Jeff Goonewardena, The Consul General of Sri Lanka
to Venezuela and Colombia, invited Steve Viglione and his wife
Dr. Marilyn Powers to meet the First Lady of Sri Lanka and gift
over 65,000 books to the children of this impoverished nation
in December. The mission was so successful that over 15 Sri Lankan
newspapers featured articles of their book gifting mission.
Jeff Goonewardena and Kaveh Khast of The World
Relief Organization are partnering with The I AM Foundation to
meet 30 First Ladies around the world and invite them to endorse
the signature book of the campaign and their global book gifting
missions for children. So far they have received their first
endorsement and meeting with the First Lady of Sri Lanka, Shiranthi
Rajapaksa, who said "I convey my most sincere and respectful
thanks for this good work , The I AM! Affirmation Book, done
especially for children. "
In July these two organizations are being invited
to meet with the First Lady of Colombia. They will travel to
areas of Tennessee, Louisiana and Mississippi to gift books to
the children in those states as well. "We like to refer
to our mission as 'local, national and global" says founder
Steve Viglione of The San Diego based I AM Foundation. "This
is about all children in every land."
The I AM Foundation, established in 1998, has gifted
